I was fourteen and life seemed to be going great,
I had loving parents and two siblings, ten and eight.
I had many friends at school, and at church to,
But something was about to change, something nobody knew.
It all happened so quickly that it’s just a big jumble,
But my life seemed to be going on a downhill tumble.
I was so young and unsuspecting; I didn’t see the signs,
I had forgotten my purpose, the fine print between the lines.
Because God had a contract on my young life,
And he gave me all that pain and that strife.
But if it took cancer for me to fulfill his will,
Then I would do what I had to do and stand by him still.
The first weeks of treatment were very very tough,
And at times my relationship with God got a little rough.
I lost all of my hair, and a lot of people stared,
But my friends were there and showed me that they cared.
Life went on and I beat the illness,
But things were never the same, I must confess.
I had a story and a testimony to tell,
About how my Lord Jesus had made me well.
And everyday when I look down and see that scare,
I know that my God isn’t very far.
The Lord was with me every step of the way,
And his impact on my life forever will stay.
